On Inspiring...

"Keep knocking down bureaucracy. You cannot be an effective leader unless you are prepared to go right down to understand the organisation."

"Get the best people, let them grow and find potential they don't even know they had. As soon as you start believing you are the best, you start to decline. Be humble and simple, always realise that you are only as good as tomorrow."

"Secondly, we need to always push ourselves to be innovative. If you stand still, you will enter the declining phase. You need to reinvent the whole time, to stay relevant and close to customers. Grab every opportunity, don't worry about failure. If you fail, you can try again. Failure is not trying"

The FinePix S200EXR

The FinePix S200EXR, a worthy successor to the
award-winning FinePix S100FS. Aimed at high-end enthusiasts looking for excellent picture quality without the expense of a DSLR system, the FinePix S200EXR combines the pin-sharp long-range optically stabilized 14.3x manual zoom lens so popular in the FinePix S100FS with the latest 1/1.6″ 12 megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor, which has won a string of awards since its introduction in the FinePix F200EXR.

The S200EXR is intended to be more than that however, and is being pitched as a simpler alternative to interchangeable- lens DSLR cameras.Users of the FinePix S200EXR will find their results equal or superior to DSLRs, principally due to revolutionary design of the EXR sensor.

The EXR sensor on the FinePix S200EXR was built to perfectly match the optical qualities of the 14.3x lens. The goal was to produce a sensor/ lens combination that works as close to that of the human eye as possible. The EXR sensor is essentially a switchable sensor; changing its complex electronic behav
ior to suit the subject, changing its characteristics as the photographer demands, and producing the very best picture without making compromises.

A new
arrangement of the color filter mosaic provides more image data than conventional arrays. Combined with new 3-way Capture Technology, the result is a single EXR sensor that can operate in three modes: High Resolution (HR), Wide Dynamic Range (DR), or High Sensitivity and Low Noise (SN).

The EXR Processor and the Super CCD EXR sensor w
ork closely together to guarantee exceptional image quality. In the latest models including the FinePix S200EXR, newly researched Multi Frame Technology has been added, and along with it Pro Focus Mode and Pro Lowlight Mode.

Pro Fo
cus Mode works by taking a burst of 2 or 3 frames, and analysing the distance between the subject and the background. The camera then is able to take the main subject and crisply matt it against a defocused foreground and background. Perfect for portrait or nature photography, Pro Focus Mode should be used when professional results are desired, with minimal adjustment to the camera, and without the need to edit your photos afterwards on a PC. The results from the FinePix S200EXR will look as good as those from a DSLR, or better!

Pro Lowlight Mode should be used when you are trying to avoid noisy low light shots. With conventional camera models, it is possible to achieve relatively blur-free low light shots using high ISO and CCD shift (or optical image) stabilization. But this comes at a cost, as the ISO 1600 setting will invariably produce distracting and ugly noise. Once switched to Pro Lowlight Mode, the camera will take burst of 4 high sensitivity images using Pixel Fusion Technology in quick succession. It will then deploy Multi Frame Technology to overlap the 4 images to create one, single image with extremely low noise.

The massive 14.3x zoom lens is truly a delight to use in such a compact, lightweight design. The ultra-high precision Fujinon lens achieves maximum resolution at all focal lengths of 30.5mm-436mm equivalent with maximum aperture of a bright F2.8 (wide angle) to F5.3 (telephoto).

Because of the composite body and lens structure, there is no need to worry about dirt or dust on the Super CCD EXR sensor, and they are perfectly aligned for the very best results. The mechanical zoom offers image framing with fingertip precision as well as offering a user experience that closely matches the use of a high-end DSLR.

The FinePix S200EXR will be available from August 25, 2009, with pricing announced nearer to the date of the launch (should be around RM2,500.00?).

The Day That Never Comes

Born to push you around
better just stay down
you pull away
he hits the flesh
you hit the ground

mouth so full of lies
tend to black your eyes
just keep them closed
keep praying
just keep waiting

waiting for the one
the day that never comes
when you stand up and feel the warmth
but the sunshine never comes,
no, the sunshine never comes

push you cross that line
just stay down this time
hide in yourself
crawl in yourself
you'll have your time

God I'll make them pay
take it back one day
I'll end this day
I'll splatter color on this grey

waiting for the one
the day that never comes
when you stand up and feel the warmth
but the sunshine never comes

love is a four letter word
and never spoken in here
love is a four letter word
here in this prison

I suffer this no longer
I put it into
this I swear
this I swear
the sun will shine
this I swear
this I swear
this I swear

Ikan Bakar

My best ever "ikan bakar" experience was at Jimbaran Bay in Indonesia. A great variety of delicious live or fresh fish, squid, crabs, king prawns and lobsters prepared on the open grill of burning coconut husks. Dining on the sandy beachfront a few feet from the water with romantic candlelight and live music. The damage for us was close to Rp1.5 million though.

Back home in Malaysia, my favourite "ikan bakar" spot always be the Restoran Sri Tanjung at Tanjung Lumpur, Kuantan (103° 20' 28.2"E, 3° 48' 22.2"N). Since my buddy Zahurin, a local Kuantan guy introduced this place to me back in 1998, I never missed to patronise them whenever I stay overnight there (Mind you they only open after Isya' till midnight).

Yesterday, I was there and here are our menu...

Grilled Giant Crabs (Ketam Bakar)

Grilled Cockles (Kerang Bakar)

Grilled Garoupa (Kerapu Bakar)

Chili King Prawns (Udang Besar Bercili)

Chili Lala Clams (Lala Bercili)

Quest for A Pillar

What Pillar? It is the Pillar of Malay States located somewhere near the Buckingham Palace in London. Been there 4 or 5 times but never known the existence of this pillar until one day I bumped into this website.

May be I've passed by the pillar in the previous visits but never notice it. Of course this pillar is significant to me because I am a Malay, hehehe. (and also it was the name of Malaysia before the independence).

On Saturday morning, June 13th, I've set on a mini quest to look for the Pillar. I took the Circle Line to St. James's Park station. Once arrived at the station, I saw so many people walking fast towards the park. The roads around the park were all closed. Policemen were everywhere. Oh man, what's going on?

Then I heard thumping marching beat in a distant. So I walked towards the sound like everybody else. When I arrived at The Mall, there were more people but nothing was happening.

All access were barricaded, either by fences or by the crowd . "There goes my mini quest", I thought.

I sat back and waited a while to see what was going on. Then came a group of German-speaking teenagers around me. I asked the girl who sat next to me about the event. Ahah! It was the official celebration of Queen's birthday. What a lucky day for me. May be can see the Queen in person!

The Queen's Guard

And here come the Queen...

Close-up

After the progression ended, the police started to open up some of the barricades. Yeah, I can proceed my mission. But where to start. It was still difficult to move around, people are everywhere.

I have to search strategically. Using my 370mm zoom lenses, I figured out there were 3 main pillars; Canadian Gate, South & West African Gate and Australian Gate. So I decided to check out around the Australian Gate first.

Bingo!! My first guess was correct. It is located next to the Australian Gate, the main left entrance to the Palace. And yes, I have passed by this pillar every times I went there...

Mission accomplish!!

Hiatus

My last posting was back in April 12. So it was a break for more than 2 months. I was caught up with a lot of things lately.

Huh! Actually I was thinking either to conclude my blog, or to continue?? I believe this will happen to all bloggers. At some point of time, you feel so lazy to post. It happened to Atiz before, now it's happening to me.

What would you say?

Anyway, some update from my previous post:

As I wished, Fira was selected to represent Subang District in the state level netball matches . The PASTI Selangor's Sport Day was held on May 31, 2009 at the Universiti Industri Selangor (UNISEL), Bestari Jaya. This time, they met tougher opponents and lost all matches. She was upset but I told her that she was lucky to loose the matches or else she had to play more games in the QF, Semi & may be in the Final, in the blistering midday sun. I told her that she might faint in the heat. I'm already proud of her participation. Only then she cheered up.

PASTI Subang District's Sport Day 2009

This morning, Fira represented her kindy, PASTI At-Tauhid, Taman Ehsan in the PASTI Subang District's Mini Football and Mini Netball Sport Day. The event was participated by 9 PASTIs (Pusat Asuhan Tunas Islam) within the Subang parlimentary district and was held at the Paya Jaras MBSA Hall. Fira played GK (Goal Keeper), in the Netball matches, of course.

Fira went there first, in the wee hour, by school bus. We drove later, after breakfast. When we arrived, they were already playing in the second match. According to Fira, their opponent in the first match that we missed wore blue uniform, so it could be PASTI Humairah, Merbau Sempak. Fira's team won.

The best GK in Subang? She only let in one goal. (except for the first match... we did not know the score)

In the second match, they beat PASTI Little Mukmin, Kota Damansara by 11 to 1.

The boys' mini football final match. PASTI At-Tauhid won again for the third consecutive year. Hopefully, Jimi will be selected to play next year.

Fira's team with PASTI Al-Firdaus, Subang. They beat them in the third round by 8 to nil.

Fira's team with PASTI An-Nur, Damansara Damai. They beat them in the final by 9 to nil.

The champion.

Both boys and girls teams of PASTI At-Tauhid won the tournament for the third consecutive year. Congratulation to their dedicative and passionate teachers especially to Cikgu Ana.

What's next. State level? Hopefully Fira will be selected to represent the Subang District in the upcoming PASTI Selangor's Sport Day...
